New traffic circle planned for SE North Bend Way will facilitate new convenience store
SNOQUALMIE, WA. – As it builds a new state-of-the-art convenience store and gas station, the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe today announced plans to improve traffic safety and access along SE North Bend Way near Snoqualmie Casino.
The Tribe plans to install a new traffic circle and entrance to the Snoqualmie Reservation just west of the existing entrance to Snoqualmie Casino off Interstate 90 near Seattle. The Tribe has agreed to pay all costs associated with the project.
The new traffic circle will reduce congestion, reduce speed, and improve traffic flow into and out of the area, especially after the Tribe’s new convenience store opens for business.
Construction on the traffic circle is expected to begin after the planning and permitting process is finished.
“As the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe pursues responsible development of our business enterprises, it is our responsibility to improve safety for all travelers, visitors and employees,” said Steve De Los Angeles, of the Snoqualmie Indian Tribal Council. “This project will serve the community, providing better and safer access to the Snoqualmie Indian Reservation, our businesses and the thousands of visitors we welcome every year.”
The project will not affect operations at Snoqualmie Casino or the existing Snoqualmie Tobacco and Liquor Store, both of which will remain fully open during construction.
The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe’s traffic and engineering consultants on August 30 will participate in a pre-application meeting with King County officials to discuss design and engineering, the permitting process, and fees.
