Tribal Admin Closed Mon-Wed Due to Poor Air Quality

Due to poor air quality, per Tribal Council directive, we will be closing our administration offices today (Monday, August 20) at 2 PM and remain closed through Wednesday, August 22, 2018. We expect to resume operations on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

Directors and Managers, please pass this message along to your employees. Those departments with essential services, that may have appointments scheduled, please provide those services and then you will be free to leave once those appointments are complete.

This is an important message from Snoqualmie Tribe Emergency Management, Director John Pennington.

Air quality issues have deteriorated over the greater Puget Sound area and have reached an unhealthy status in areas near the Snoqualmie Tribe.  The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle does not currently forecast a relief from the visible smoke in our area until at least Wednesday afternoon, though our geographic location and elevation may delay that relief time frame by several hours.

The following website from the Washington State Department of Health provides important information about smoke from wildfires: https://www.doh.wa.gov/CommunityandEnvironment/AirQuality/SmokeFromFires.

Please consider carefully any outdoor activity or work and check on vulnerable individuals and those you believe may need assistance.

Those considered at-risk for poor air quality include: Individuals with heart disease, coronary artery disease or congestive heart failure; Individuals with lung diseases such as asthma, emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); Pregnant women; Outdoor workers; Older adults and the elderly.
